Based on Isaiah 60:1-6 and Matthew 2:1-12, “Song of the Magi” by Perry Kelly is a reverent and poetic retelling of the journey of the Wise Men, written for use in church Christmas pageants, Epiphany celebrations, and other holiday gatherings. Through lyrical storytelling, the song traces the Magi’s pilgrimage across desert sands, guided by a divine star toward the newborn King of Peace. With verses rich in biblical symbolism—gold for royalty, frankincense for priesthood, and myrrh for sacrifice—it honors Christ’s identity and destiny. The final stanza introduces a dramatic turn, as the Magi defy Herod’s deceitful request, choosing instead a path of divine protection. Blending worshipful tone with narrative depth, the song invites reflection on faith, obedience, and the mystery of incarnation.
